During the weekend of November 8th, 60 enthusiastic members of our varsity team 5419 and JV team, 5499, boarded an Amtrak on our way to the county of Madera. Making it to Madtown Throwdown, hosted by FRC team 1323. We arrived at the venue Friday afternoon, and after some extremely fun games of volleyball, with other teams at the competition we started working. Both teams worked diligently throughout the first couple days, ramping up our efforts once the playoffs rolled around on the final day. We were pleasantly surprised that we worked so well with our rookie team and that our rookie team seamlessly blended into the culture of FIRST and worked so well with other teams at the competition. We were picked as the third pick of the fifth alliance and made it through two matches before being eliminated. Even though we were eliminated, team 5419 and 5499, who unfortunately weren’t picked for playoffs, went home with high spirits and hope for the coming season.
